Charles (Chuck) A. Sted started at Ernst & Young in 1974 and by 1985 had become a partner where his focus was on audits of financial institutions. After leaving Ernst & Young in 1992, Mr. Sted served as CFO of Bank of America – Hawaii until 1998. In 1998, Mr. Sted joined Hawaii Pacific Health (HPH) as CFO and, later in 2004, became the company’s president and CEO until his retirement in 2013. During his tenure at HPH, Mr. Sted negotiated the merger of three health systems to form HPH. The organization is nationally recognized for its leading use of the EPIC electronic medical record system to provide value-based health care and meet patient / consumer expectations in a digital world. Mr. Sted served on the board of HPH and each of its 14 non-profit and for profit subsidiaries.
After retirement, Mr. Sted has joined the boards of a number of health care related enterprises including Advanced Plan for Health, LLC in Dallas. He chairs, and has chaired, numerous audit, compliance, compensation, audit, risk and governance and nominating committees. Board service since retirement has included several development stage enterprises in the health care technology arena. He currently serves on the Sutter Health affiliate boards, Sutter Health Plan and Kahi Mohala Behavior Health Hospital. He is also a member of the board of Recursive Labs in St. Louis, MO. He Served as Chairman of the Board of United Holdings, United Laundry Services and United Kona, one of the largest commercial laundries in the United States. Mr. Sted was a co-founder and continues on the Board of the Hawaii Cancer Consortium. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hawaii Pacific University, Chairman of the Hawaii Business Roundtable and in numerous other chair and leadership roles in Hawaii organizations.
Mr. Sted received his BS in Biology and MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana. He completed Director Training and Certification at the UCLA Anderson School in 2006.
